THE VICE chairman of the county planning committee has been arrested on suspicion of "breach of planning and licensing offences."
Cllr Mark Edwards, the Independent member for Prendergast, is currently on bail. He has not been charged.
Cllr Edwards told the Mercury his arrest was in relation to the demolition of a small wall to the rear of his property in Quay Street.
"I am 100 per cent certain there won't be any charges," he said.
A police spokesman said: "A 41-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of breach of planning and licensing offences, and has been bailed pending further enquiries."
