NEYLAND'S brilliant In-Step dance team have reigned supreme for the fourth year in a row at the Welsh Street Dance Championships.

The team, choreographed by Amy Watkins, travelled up to Porthcawl for the invitation-only event last weekend and came back with enough gold and silver to make B.A. Baracus jealous.

In the pre-junior solo, Emily Hargreaves performed fantastically well to gain second place from a field of seven competitors.

But Emily went one better alongside her colleagues Kara Palmer, Jeanette Edwards and Emilie Osbourne to clinch the pre-junior team title for the third successive year.

There were also medals galore in the junior section with Joanna Nicholas bagging gold in the solo. Joanna took the Welsh champion title for the second year in a row.

Joanna also featured in the junior pairs alongside Kayleigh Edwards and picked up a silver medal. A great performance given the talent on show among the 11 pairs taking part.

Both Joanna and Kayleigh then joined Sami Evans, Lucy Johnstone, Lydia May and Catherine Cole in the day's main competition, the junior team event.

Nineteen teams took part but the In-Step girls blew the rest away with a brilliant performance. The team scored the maximum 400 and received a standing ovation from the crowd and judges alike.

Such was the level of performance that the team have now been asked to join a tour of dancers travelling throughout south Wales.

Choreographer Amy would like to thank Simon Safety for their fantastic support in printing the T-shirts worn by all competitors and supporters. Special thanks also go to Lesley and Alan Watkins, Janice Evans, Anne Evans, Lisa May and Julie Humphreys for their help and support throughout the year.

Anyone wishing to join In-Step can contact Amy on 07875 678 946 or 01646 692602 or Lesley on 01646 602198.
